This is a pair of carved and colorfully painted animal motif candle holders. Each animal - camel, horse, elephant and oxen - has its own personality. They are early to mid 20th Century Hindustani and carved from a hardwood - possibly Teak. They exhibit wear indicative of their age only adding to their character and charm. Some wax residue remains. Circa early to mid 20th Century, they are an example of Hindustani folk art at its best. Each one measures 13 inches tall, 10 inches in diameter at its widest and 6 inches in diameter at the base and weighs 3 1/2 pounds. Multiple photos have been provided to showcase each animal figure.
